Our Pastor
A Regular Guy Who Answered an Extraordinary Calling
When you meet Pastor Dylan Cook, you’ll notice right away — he’s not a distant preacher behind a pulpit. He’s a down-to-earth guy who loves people, loves art, and loves sharing life over a good cup of coffee. Dylan grew up surrounded by faithful examples. Both of his grandfathers were pastors, so church was a constant part of his world. But becoming a pastor wasn’t in his original plans. He went to college to study art and design, chasing creativity more than calling. From one change of major to the next, what he calls “the decisive moment,” finally came.

“I was sitting by a bonfire one night with friends, frustrated and unsettled. I knew deep down that God was calling me into ministry — but I was running from it. That night I stopped running. I told God, ‘I’m tired of living like this. I surrender.’ And that changed everything.”

From that moment forward, Dylan devoted himself to ministry. After completing his B.S. in Exercise Science from Appalachian State University, he enrolled at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he graduated with a Masters of Divinity in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry. Upon graduation, he began serving, not as someone who “had all the answers” and a definite plan, but as someone who simply desired to preach the Word and walk alongside people through life’s highs and lows,

“The heart of ministry,” he says, “is helping people follow Christ — not from a distance, but shoulder to shoulder.”

Today, Pastor Dylan leads Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with that same humble spirit. He believes faith isn’t just what happens on Sundays — it’s a daily journey of growing, learning, and loving others well.
If you ask Dylan what guides him every day as a pastor, he’ll openly share them with you:
-
To lead with the humility of Christ
-
To preach the gospel of Christ
-
To equip the saints of Christ
-
To advance the mission of Christ
-
To love the body of Christ
When he’s not preparing sermons or meeting with church families, you’ll find him spending time with his wife Makayla and their dog Tango, travelling to new and exciting countries, practicing his latte art, reading a novel that’s way too long, or watching the Atlanta Braves.
Dylan’s not the kind of pastor who wants to impress you — he wants to know you. His door, and heart are always open.
